USC Trojans Strengthen Recruiting Pipeline with Mater Dei Prospects

The USC Trojans are actively strengthening their recruiting pipeline by hosting class of 2029 prospect Rhys Fa'amausili, a 6-2, 310-pound interior offensive lineman from Santa Ana, California. Fa'amausili announced his visit to USC on his X account, expressing his eagerness to work with the coaching staff. This move is part of USC's strategy to solidify its connection with Mater Dei High School, a key source of talent in Southern California. The Trojans have seen success in recent recruiting classes, including cornerback Danny Lang, a four-star recruit in the 2027 class. Currently, USC holds the No. 9 ranked 2027 recruiting class nationally and the No. 2 spot in the Big Ten. The Trojans aim to improve this ranking after achieving the top class in 2026, which included 35 commits, 22 of whom are blue-chip prospects. Mater Dei has played a significant role in this success, contributing players like wide receiver Kayden Dixon-Wyatt and defensive lineman Tomuhini Topui. Historically, USC has faced challenges in retaining local talent, particularly against rivals like the Oregon Ducks, who have dominated recent matchups. However, with a strong 2026 class, USC appears poised to reclaim its status in Southern California recruiting. The Trojans will face Oregon again this season at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, looking to end a four-game losing streak against them.
